Size

Turquoise beads picked out with a line of antique bronze, worked into a zigzag along a black leather band. The bronze is what makes it — it warms the turquoise up and stops the whole thing reading as beachwear.

One of our slim collars. A continuous beaded chevron on a narrow band rather than a fully beaded panel. Light enough to leave on all day.

A slim band suits a fine-boned neck better than a wide one does.

Getting the size right

Sizes are the fitted neck range. Sighthounds and other narrow-headed breeds are the usual sizing trap here — measure the neck itself rather than assuming the collar has to clear the head.

Two fingers should slide under the closed collar. Any looser and it will turn on the neck; any tighter and it will rub.

How wide it will be

Width follows the size. For a whippet or similar fine-necked breed the 3/4" and 1 3/8" bands usually sit better than the widest one.

Looking after it

Wipe with a damp cloth and air-dry. The bronze beads are metallic-finished glass, not plated metal, so they won't tarnish — but they will dull if you scrub them, so don't. No machine washing, no soaking, no direct heat.
